Passion pineapple mix

We have a lot of passion fruit where we live along with cheap rum. We decided to make some mixtures with it. Just mix some rum, pineapple and several flavored rums to make a great mix. The key is to let it sit in the fridge overnight.

Bannockburn with Lemon

On the weekend we usually have a mix drink with breakfast. Normally it's a mimosas or a Bloody Mary.  I have some old V8 that needs to be used up. The last weekend and yesterday we had the bloodys. Unfortunately I was not on the mood for a bloody. Instead I took to the internet top find a recipe to use with my v8. Actually I searched for tomato juice recipes.

That's when I came across this Bannockburn recipe.

1 part scotch (some say whiskey and I used Dewars )
3 parts tomato juice (V8 for me)
Dash of Worcester sauce

I didn't like it but then I added a lemon and wow. I love it.

Memorial Refesher

Here is a new drink to try.  We really liked it after we figured out it needed some bitters.

Ingredients

  • 2 basil leaves
  • Teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 shot of whisky
  • 1/8 cup of orange juice
  • Splash of bitters
  • Ginger beer
using a highball glass muddle the basil leaves in the sugar.  Add in the whisky and orange juice then chill it.  After a few minutes add your ice and a couple drops of bitters then top it off with ginger beer.

Dark Rumm-y

This is a Meyers Rum drink.  It's always good to have the right stuff to offset the dark rum.

2 shots of Meyers Dark Rum
1 shot of Vanilla Rum
1 shot of Banana Rum
1/2 shot of grenadine
fill it with coke and ice.

Makes 1 pint.

Bumblebee Passion Fruit Drink

In a blender use the following ingredients:

1/2 cup of white rum
1 cup of passion fruit juice ( from fresh passion fruit)
1/4 cup of freshly squeezed lime juice
1/4 cup of lemon juice
3 ice cubes

Fill a glass up a 3rd of a way with sprite and a few ice cubes.  Then add 1/4 cup of pineapple rum followed by the stuff in the blender.

It comes out frothy and yellow.  We will try some variations on this next time.  Probably would drop the lemon juice and I don't think it needed the soda.  Might also try it with some ginger.
